Gates of Babylon by edlo Gates of Babylon by edlo
Ok so My testing in Vue lead me to finish up this vision.
Hope you like it.
Vue render in aprox 7 hours
Islands modeled in Zbrush, actually the same that I used for the Eon challenge, but this time textured directly in Vue.
Fine tuned in PS.
Thanks for your clicks in the fav button :P

That's very nice scene. I got Zbrush but still could't figure it out. As I know it's not possible to use it's displacement maps in any other 3D application so there's a script on Maya to use them.

How did you export and import those Zbrush objects ? Actually a walktrough would be nice :D

Thanks m8, glad you like it.
First zbrush 3 its just around the corner, it will be a huge update and the best is that its free. :) From what I heard, in that update there is the possibility to export the object with all texturing included, we will have to see ;) go to pixologic page and take a look at the video.
Now As you correctly mention there is no way to use textures from zbrush, so this object was textured in Vue.
Now here is how to save your model as .obj.
When you finish the object in zbrush you save it in there as a "TOOL" keep the tool icon pressed until you see all tools and choose save as and save the model as a zbrush tool anywhere you want Then you select the tool and choose export and save as a Wavefront obj.
You can skip saving as a tool but its nice to save a zbrush original. :P

zbrush3 will have significant changes so I think its better to hold off on that DVD... you can end up with instructions that dont apply anymore :)

I like how the waves aren't all around the same height, it gives them a bit more realism, the clouds are nice and the textures on the rocks are really good. I think some parts on the rock are a little too rounded, but that aside its an awesome render!
